Edge is a Catholic middle school youth ministry for early adolescents in grades 6-8. It is designed to meet the catechetical, educational, spiritual, emotional and social needs of young adolescents.

Edge approaches catechesis to middle-school youth using the Life Teen model. Middle-school youth are removed from behind classroom desks and brought into a large-group environment for gathering activities, teachings and prayer. In small groups, they break open the teachings and build solid, Christ-centered relationships that allow them to comfortably explore their Catholic faith and make it relevant to their everyday lives. This helps build safe relationships during some of the most formative years of a teen’s life.

With new catechetical themes delivered every semester, Directors of Religious Education or middle school Ministers have a variety of topics to explore and teach to youth. This creative and experiential approach engages youth to understand Catholic teaching and form their Catholic identity.

Overview of the Program:

• Edge Nights occur every week during the school year. Edge also offers social, service and recreational activities designed to create a greater sense of community among middle school youth.
• Summer programming is an additional option for Edge parishes. Life Teen hosts several Edge Summer Camps at our camps in Georgia, Missouri and Arizona.
• Edge offers middle school youth occasions to put their faith into action, through a variety of service projects.
• The parent component is designed to assist parents in raising their middle school youth. A parish can offer educational classes and sessions on middle school spirituality, psychology, personality development and physical development.

Edge Support Resources

Three times a year, your parish will receive Edge Support. Edge Support is loaded with fun and exciting resources to keep your middle school ministry centered on Christ and alive in the Spirit:

• Semester Catechetical Session: Middle-school youth will explore themes like the Seven Sacraments, the Ten Commandments and the saints in these creative, educational and interactive Edge lessons. Each year you will receive three different catechetical themes all meant to ignite a fire of faith in middle-school youth.
• CD: All Edge sessions, retreats, lock-ins, bulletin advertisements and log loops will be on a CD that allows for quick copies and handouts.
• The Edge Logo Loop: Great for use on Edge nights, retreats, lock-ins and anywhere you have your Edge youth gather.
• Retreats and Lock-Ins: Annually, Edge provides a retreat and lock-in resource for your middle school youth to renew and deepen their love and commitment to Christ and His Church.
• Music CDs: In every box, we introduce current and talented Christian artists to our Edge family. These CDs can be used for hangout time at retreats and Edge Nights.
• Creative Gift: You never know what the Edge will create, but it will be fun and entertaining. Anything from t-shirts to finger blasters can and will appear in your Edge box!
• Additional Books and Resources: The latest books, resources and DVDs come to you so that you have what you need to reach every youth.
• Staff Support: Our Edge staff is here to answer of your questions, pray or support you in any way we can.
